Endodontics
If you have experienced pain while chewing or have a severe toothache, a root canal may help to save your tooth!
Finding you had a tooth with a diseased nerve would have probably meant losing it in the past. Today, at BLVD Dentistry & Orthodontics, root canal treatment can save that tooth. The procedure is relatively simple and involves three visits or less to our office.
Signs that you might need a root canal can include pain when chewing or when pressure is applied, a severe toothache, a dark discoloration of the tooth, prolonged sensitivity to temperatures, and tenderness and swelling in the surrounding gums. It’s worth noting, however, that not all teeth that require root canal therapy are painful.
If you require a root canal treatment, a dentist at BLVD Dentistry & Orthodontics will remove the affected tissue. After that, the interior of the tooth will be cleaned up and sealed. Finally, the tooth will be filled with dental composite. If your tooth has extensive decay, your doctor might recommend putting a crown on the tooth to protect and strengthen it from breakage.
As long as you continue to care for your restored tooth, it should last forever!
