Missing a tooth or teeth doesn’t mean that your only options are dentures or bridges. Dental implants may be an option for you!
Dental implants are an effective and popular way to replace missing teeth. Made of titanium and other materials compatible with the human body, dental implants are posts that are surgically placed in the jaw where they begin to function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth and are designed to blend in perfectly with your natural smile.
Most often, there are three phases to receiving an implant here at BLVD Dentistry & Orthodontics:
- Step One: The dentist surgically places the implant(s) into the jawbone.
- Step Two: Osseointegration takes place. Osseointegration means “combines with the bone,” and is what makes an implant so strong. This process takes time, so most patients need to wait several months for the implant to completely integrate before a replacement tooth should be attached.
- Step Three: We place the artificial tooth/teeth. For a single tooth implant, your dentist will attach a dental crown, which is a new tooth, customized according to the size, shape, color, and fit of your original tooth, so that it blends seamlessly. If we have to replace more than a single tooth, we will custom-make dentures or bridges to fit your mouth and your implants.
